Manistique Chamber Concert Series
For more than 50 years, a summer series of chamber music concerts has been held in Manistique, MI. Founded in 1968 by Dr. Robert and Mary King, Marion Orr, and Vesta Fyvie, this grassroots initiative brought classical chamber music to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, fostering a tradition of artistic excellence and community engagement.
Strings on the Bay
Strings on the Bay, originally founded and led by esteemed string educators Arol and Dudley Beck, continues its legacy as Bay de Noc Community College’s beloved summer chamber music series. Each season brings an inspiring lineup of performances to the Besse Center on Bay College’s Main Campus in Escanaba, MI.
Macon Creek
United by a shared commitment to expanding access to the arts, Beacon Arts Michigan and Macon Creek have come together to bring premier artists to rural southeast Michigan. Through concerts, masterclasses, workshops, and interdisciplinary collaborations, this partnership explores how music and art carry our histories, illuminate our present, and spark the narratives that will shape our future.
Catherine McMichael, Composer
In celebration of Paul Lundin’s three decades of leadership in the Upper Peninsula, Beacon Arts Michigan has partnered with acclaimed composer Catherine McMichael to commission a new work for string quartet in his honor. Known for her lyrical writing and deep sensitivity to musical narrative, McMichael is crafting a piece that reflects Lundin’s enduring impact on the region’s chamber music community, to be premiered in summer 2027.
